I think my self-adapted term for the internet, "the cloud", fits well here in my first post because I feel as though I'm throwing words out into the ether and hoping that they'll find a way to float around the world (much like said cloud). I guess my first words should be an introduction, in first post fashion.
My name is Lauren. I'm a pretty normal 22 year old with a pretty abnormal life situation. Or at least, to me it seems abnormal. I'm still in college, whereas most of my friends from high school have graduated with bachelors degrees and I still have at least 2 years left. I moved from Kansas City to Chicago in 2009 on an outrageous whim fueled by grief, guilt, and anger - more on that later. I live with my very understanding boyfriend, James, who really hasn't known me long at all. I spend most of my time on the CTA or at Wright College, where I currently go to school. I work as a box office attendant for the theater company there and get paid peanuts to do what feels like a full time job. I only get paid during the Fall and Spring semesters of school, so at the moment I am poor and jobless. However, no one has any sympathy for me, as I'm a college student - I'm supposed to be poor.
I'm still in the process of trying to figure out what I should put on a blog that I'm trying to use for adult purposes (instead of spending the majority of my time squealing like a teenager over famous people I'll never meet - although that will happen here too). As it is, I will probably spend a lot of time talking about my personal life and problems. Occasionally, I will talk about television, movies, etc etc.
I'm going to try to start out with a weekly format. Once a week personal posts, once a week entertainment (tv, movies, music...) posts, once a week photo posts... et cetera. If I am unable to keep up with the once a week format, I'll scale it down (or scale it up if I have more time to post).
Hopefully you'll get something out of these posts. Whether it be a laugh, an idea, or just annoyance. I hope to leave "the cloud" with something new.
