Entertainment Review #2: Hell's Kitchen

So sorry for the delay in posts. I've been slightly busy this week.

This week's Entertainment Review is about my favorite chef.

One of my more recent television addictions has been the combined works of Gordon Ramsay. I've spent the last few weeks watching endless amounts of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, The F Word, and Masterchef. But my favorite show of his has to be Hell's Kitchen.

The basic idea is this: 12 aspiring chefs on two teams (usually women vs. men) compete for Chef Ramsay's approval. They do challenges during the day, which range from grilling outside to cooking the most basic of foods, and then run a dinner service competition in the evening. They're competing to become the head chef of a major restaurant - this season it's BLT Steak in NYC - so generally the steaks (ha ha) are pretty high. After the daytime challenge, the winners get a reward while the losers have to clean and prep for dinner service. Whichever team runs dinner service more smoothly wins and the losers must put up two people for elimination. But it doesn't really matter who they put up, Chef Ramsay is going to pick who he thinks should go home.

My favorite part about this show has got to be the hilarious antics. Ramsay is always yelling at someone ("It's f--ing RAW!") and there's always at least one contestant who can only live up to his lowest expectations. I will say, it's obvious that Ramsay isn't quite the cruel, heartless man you see during Hell's Kitchen. It's clear that the producers have had him ramp it up a bit in order to hike the ratings. But he delivers with flying colors. This show is a censorer's wet dream.

Here's my rating:
