I started this blog in 2010 in order to try to write down my feelings, the things that happened to me, and interesting stuff in general. At the time, I was still in college and still pretty new to Chicago. Here's my story:



My name is Lanie. I'm a pretty normal 27 year old and I live a pretty normal life.

I moved from Kansas City to Chicago in 2009 on an outrageous whim fueled by grief, guilt, and anger.

I went to visit a friend and two weeks later I was living in Chicago.

I have now lived in Chicago for 6 years and a lot has changed since I left Kansas City.

• I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with my bachelors degree in Arts Management.
• I met the man of my dreams.
• I got engaged... and then married.

I live with my very understanding husband, James, who lets me be me, despite my weirdness, and my beautiful dogs, Oliver (Ollie) and Pancho (sometimes Momo).

I am a pretty average girl, actually. And this is just my place to tell the world how I feel. I struggle between being a grown woman and being a girl - just like every 20something in the world. I'm married now but still not sure where I fit in. So somewhere between paying the bills and nap time, I write here.
